Improving Product distribution with Tamper-Evident Packaging

There are many distribution services in the Philippines but only a handful of them actually are trustworthy enough. For most retail brand that are expanding, distributing products might spell out if their business will succeed or not. To protect both you and your consumer, it’s important that you use tamper-evident packaging so that your end buyers know if the product has been tampered either during transit or while on display.

But what is tamper-evident packaging? Most retail consumers might already be familiar with it because there are a lot of products that use it especially in food, drugs, and cosmetic products. We most commonly encounter these in product that have “do not consume if seal is broken”. This “seal” is the tamper-evident packaging; it’s packaging that is designed such that attempting to access the content will be very visible on the packaging. Not to be confused with tamper resistant packaging which is packaging that is design to make accessing the product really difficult without the help of certain tools, tamper-evident makes it very obvious that the package has been opened.

Retail brands, manufacturers, and distribution services in the Philippines will be familiar with some of the tamper-evident packaging examples we have below.

Blister Packs

Blister packs are commonly foiled; like the packs for individual medicine wrappings but they can also be plastic seals packs stuck to a cardboard like with toys or batteries.

Shrink or Heat Seals

These are plastic seals that are wrapped around the product and can be torn through a perforated part of cut out like the seals on the nozzles of water gallons, water bottles, condiments, and boxes of perfumes.

Ring Seal

This one is almost exclusively applicable to bottles; the breakable ring seal is the ring connected to the bottle cap by thin plastic strands than break when you unscrew the cap.

Sachet

You might not appreciate it as much since it’s super common in the Philippines but sachets are packaging that can really tell you if the contents have been tampered. It’s easy to spot breaks on the plastic in case insects gnaw at them and there will be obvious tears if people the to access a sachet’s contents.

Cans

Cans are both tamper resistant and tamper evident. You always know if a can has been opened. Easy-open cans will definitely give away the fact that they’ve been opened and more so regular cans that need can openers or any sort of wedge to pry it open.

Boxes are a nice and almost universally classy way of packaging items and they are also some of the cheapest, next to sticker sealed plastic. It pays to put in some budget for tamper-evident packaging especially if you are a looking to expand your business. Find a trustworthy product distribution service in the Philippines, too so that you shipment goes untouched.
